Merry Christmas! What a difference a year makes
huh? I know this holiday season is being
celebrated in a very different way this year.
Many are facing health issues, some have lost
loved ones, others have lost jobs, and we are
all living in uncertainty. The current economic
condition of our nation has affected everyone in
one way or another. Some are hurting very badly
not knowing how the mortgage will be paid,
others face foreclosure, businesses are closing
on a daily basis and employment seems but only a
dream for many. Those who are fortunate and have
only lost money on paper, will recover faster.
Whichever category you are in, it doesn't
matter, there is still pain and discomfort. To
pretend otherwise is to stick our heads in the
sand.
Personally this has been one of the most trying
years in my life, however not the worst. I've
had other years that I wouldn't want to repeat,
but the struggles are what helped shaped the
years that followed. This year my family has
faced health issues, the loss of loved ones,
unemployment, as well as financial disaster and
yet, this may be one of the most poignant of all
Christmases, for us. As we watch the current
events that surround us all, we have a comfort
in knowing God's plan for our lives. Everything
has a season and when one ends, another begins.
Some of the greatest blessings in our lives come
after the storms.

If you are hurting this year, it's important to
know that you are not alone. No matter what
happens, it will be ok. Focus on your family,
surround yourself by what's really
important in your life, and if you can only give
or receive one gift this year, let it be the
reason for the season. It is the victory we
receive on the other side of the storm that
makes the struggle worth the effort.

I don't usually present my personal views in
this update on things not related to our
scrapbook business, but these past few months
have been so difficult, that I wanted to share
something with those who might benefit from it.
After listening to Glen Beck on television one
night, I felt compelled to order the book he had
talked about. I ordered multiple copies prior to
the Publishers release date not even fully
knowing what the book was about. Something
inside me just told me, it was a book I need to
give to each member of my family. I can
certainly say, I made the right decision.
Nothing could be more appropriate this year,
than this book filled with wisdom, written by a
man who shares the pain of his journey. If
you do nothing else, do yourself a favor and get
your hands on a copy of this book, you'll
understand the importance of the storm you may
be facing.
