Weekly Update:
|
September 29, 2006

Wow, I can not believe it is the end of
September already! Where did the month go? I'm
sure like me, you are all caught up in your
hectic routines, and the lazy, relaxing days of
summer are just a distant memory. Amazing
isn't it, how a few short weeks can make such a
difference in our lives?

Each season brings it's own unique purpose to
our lives. I truly love the Fall. It means
football and cider, cooler weather (in some
places anyway) and changing leaves. For me, it's
both a time of preparation and a time of
reflection. I tend to work on more "home
projects" in the Fall. It's almost like
preparing my nest for a long winter! I love the
memories of the North, where bon fires and
football games were a weekly highlight! While
football is still a big part of my family's
life, it's just not quite the same here in
Florida when the temperature is still in the
80's! Oh well, I still love this time of year!
As Floridians it is the mere anticipation of
cooler weather that makes this time of year so
special!
The
Fall also brings a multitude of activities and
such is the case here at the store! This update
is a perfect example. Jenny started it on
Wednesday, in hopes of getting it out early in
the week, but we've been so busy, both with
deliveries and customers, that today is Friday,
and I am just now getting to the task! It's been
a great week and when you hear all the plans and
see all the project samples and new merchandise,
you'll agree... like a customer said yesterday:
" I
just want to set up a cot, and live here! It
always so much fun here!"
What a wonderful thing to say, especially since
we all feel the same way!

Ok,
with all that being said, here are some of the
many things we have going on! Be sure to
check out the
calendar page
frequently, as it's updated on a regular basis!
We continually add special workshops, events and
promotions. We have two special guest teachers

Stay tuned for details! I'm so excited about the
caliber of teaching and projects we have to

For The Day!

September 13, 2006

Heidi Ho! Heidi Ho! It's off to Creative Escape
We Go! Well,
actually we're back from
Creative Escape
and can I just
say...
IT
WAS AMAZING!
We
did a
BAZZILLION
things! If you haven't guessed yet, the event
was sponsored by Heidi
Swapp and Bazzill
Basics!
Jenny and I, along with several other friends, spent a whirlwind weekend soaking up
all the creative energy we could! Two days of
action packed classes with some of the
industries leading designers. 8 Classes and two
secret workshops in all! My favorite by far, was
Allison Tyler-Jones,
photography class. If you recall, Allison along
with Donna Smylie,
co-authored the Autumn Leaves Book, Designing
With Photos! This is the curriculum we use in
our photography classes here at the store!

My secret class was with
Stacy Julian,
(Editor of Simple Scrapbooks Magazine and new
Internet Site, Big Picture Scrapbooking). Let me
just tell you, that Stacy packs more energy into
her tiny little body than you can possibly
imagine. She is also one of the best
motivational speakers I've heard! Her closing
ceremonies speech, brought 700 hundred women to
their feet!
We connected
with old friends, (after all, 7 years in the
business, allows you to developed relationships
with many other store owners, vendors and
designers). I remember when
Doug (Mr. Bazzill)
was just starting out! We also connected with
lots of new friends, including a delightful gal
from New York, who came into the store this
summer. We were able to spend some time with
both she and her sister. I also had a chance to
visit with Donna Downey.
She is really looking forward to her visit with
us in December! She is a real hoot! You guys are
in for a treat. If you haven't signed up for any
of her classes yet... you need to! Trust me,
she's worth it!
We had so much
fun in all of the classes. Check out the photos
below of our completed projects! The answer is
YES... we will be teaching some of them to you!
Thanks to the wonderful organization of the
event, we were each given a spiral bound book,
complete with photos, directions and product
lists for each project! The samples are
displayed in the store, so stop in and check
them out! The clock is of course,
Heidi Swapp's
creation! And Yes, everyone has already asked
about that as a class! It will definitely be
first on the list! Stay tuned for details
regarding date, time and cost!
I have a ton of
photos and promise to post them soon. I have
been to a lot of Scrapbooking Events over the
years, but this by far, tops them all. This was
a first class affair. Every detail was attended
to, Heidi's
special touches were everywhere, including
special gifts on our pillows each night. In
fact, our first night there,
Heidi
herself, delivered pink
popcorn to everyone's room! Start
saving your pennies now girls. This is going to
be an annual event. I know we won't want to miss
it! We've already made our resvervations!
