Weekly Update:
| May 31,
2006
Wow,
School's Out, Memorial Day has passed, the
Temperature is rising, the Love Bugs are
swarming, Hurricane Season starts tomorrow and
summer is officially here! Can you
believe it? Those lazy, hazy days of summer are
a thing of the past... summer means vacations,
pool parties, family outings, household projects
that you have been putting off for months, and
more activities than you think you can pack into
a 24 hour period! The same holds true for us!
Our summer is packed full of great workshops,
celebrations and special opportunities! On those
hot summer days when you just can't face getting
in and out of that sweltering car one more time,
be sure to check out what's on our schedule, and
come join in the fun!
We had a great
Memorial Day Sale!
I hope you all enjoyed the bargains while
hunting for the Red, White
and Blue signs throughout the store! I
can't believe how busy we were all day long. The
store was supposed to close at 4:00 pm but we
didn't get out of here until almost 5:30 pm! We
made lots of room for all the new products
coming out at the CHA Summer Show! It just never
ends! Aren't you glad?
Tomorrow
is June first
which is not just the beginning of hurricane
season... it marks the beginning of our
Anniversary month
and our first gift basket
raffle! If you haven't bought your
winning ticket yet, don't fret... we'll be
raffling off gift boxes every day for the entire
month of June and one could just be
calling your name! Stop in and purchase your
tickets, at only $1.00 each you can't afford not
to! Each lucky winner will choose the basket she
wants to take home! The more tickets you buy,
the better the odds... so be sure to purchase a
few, each time you are in!
Kick off the beginning of
summer with this weeks workshop from one of our
favorite manufacturers...
Making Memories! If
you are looking for layout ideas and want to
learn some new techniques that can be used on
your regular scrapbook pages, then this class is
for you! Jenny will lead you through the
workshop teaching "Vintage Chic" techniques.
You'll complete two pages and a tag and even go
home with a 12 x 12 vinyl storage folder
that you can use for a multitude of projects!
Class is Saturday,10:30 - 12:30 and is limited
in size so be sure to give us a shout if you'd
like to join us. Learn the hottest trends, from
one of the hottest companies, taught by one of
our own hottest teachers!

Congratulations
to all our graduates, from Kindergarten to
College. These are milestones in our
lives that deserve recognition! When I reflect
back on each of my children's accomplishments, I
tear up at how quickly those moments passed! It
seems like yesterday Jenny took that short walk
to the stage at Lakeview Elementary, to receive
her Kindergarten diploma. In another moment
Jason was graduating from McIntosh Middle and
off to High School, and in yet another moment,
he was walking the aisle of the University, to
shake hands with the President, accepting his
college diploma. Each time one of my children
reached that accomplishment, I cried. When Jenny
finished school, it was especially difficult,
because I knew she was my baby, and this would
be the last in this series of milestones.
Each day brings a new chapter
in our lives and how thankful I am that my hobby
and my passion has allowed me to document these
very, special occasions. Each chapter also
brings new beginnings, hopes and
aspirations for other important milestones as
well. Having Jenny return to her roots after
college has been a blessing beyond words.
Working side by side in the store has allowed me
to watch her develop into the incredible young
woman she is today! Her talents, her business
acumen, and her energy, inspire me. I know that
when and if she wants to take over the store,
she will take it to a new level!
As each of you face these
different milestones in your own lives, I hope
you will savor each moment, document them in
time, and reflect on them with the same
bittersweet nostalgia that I do!
It's
been another busy week here in the store, lots
of fun things happening! We've also been
busy preparing for our
Memorial Day Sale, so don't forget to
make it a stop on your list of things to do on
Monday! Our hours will be 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.
We have some incredible bargains for you with
savings up to 50% off. You won't want to miss
it! For the first time ever, we're even putting
selected Quickutz on sale!
June
1st marks the beginning of our daily
raffles. If you haven't started purchasing your
raffle tickets, don't fret, it's not too late!
You can purchase them throughout the month of
June. Each day we will raffle off one of our
fabulous, green gift baskets and a lucky
winner will go home with over $100.00 worth of
products! 30 lucky
winners in all! Hurry in
today to start collecting your tickets!
Workshops: A great big thank you to
Jeannie for pitch hitting for Kris Gillespie
last Saturday! Kris was very ill and had to bow
out at the last moment, and Jeannie stepped up
to the plate to taker her place! We had a full
class, so canceling wasn't an option! Jeannie
did a great job and the Winnies Walls Friendship
Books were adorable! Thanks Jeannie, your talent
and ability to jump in when needed, is greatly
appreciated!
Speaking of Jeannie... her
workshop this Saturday is the Birthday Calendar
Envelope book. If you are like me, I always need
a gentile reminder to remember all of those
important dates! This is a great way not only to
remember them, but to store the cards as well.
There are only a couple of spots left in this
class so if you're interested give us a call! The
photo's don't do this adorable sample justice!
It is really cute!
Our
June workshops
are already filling up so be sure to check out
the schedule on the
calendar page.
There are some great projects being offered. For
example, check out the cute
beach bag, flip flops and
flip flop album... how cute is that?
And how about that
Daisy D tag book? Those papers are
just to die for! If you've been looking for
inspiration or motivation then signing up for a
workshop is the way to go! We promise you not
only will you learn a new technique but you'll
have a blast doing it! Also, don't forget about
our Kids Scrap Camp...
Camp size is limited to 8 campers only and is
almost full, so don't wait much longer if you're
interested.

2006 As promised,
the weekly update! Jenny spent all afternoon
posting the images from Creative Imaginations.
When you scroll down, you'll see why!

Thank goodness for the
wonderful rain today. We so desperately need it.
I was beginning to think brown was the official
color. Perhaps today's rain will freshen things
up, give some thirsty lawns a drink and change
the scenery from brown
back to green!

I hope
everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day! What a
wonderful opportunity to celebrate the
sanctity of Motherhood. The role of a mother
encompasses so much, and how nice to have a day
when mother's can be honored and appreciated. In
our house, these special moments have always
been, not about the gifts that are received, but
about the true meaning of the occasion. I am
always delighted and amazed at the
thoughtfulness of my family and the lengths they
go to, to make these occasions so special. I
hope the same held true for each of you!

Jane and I had the delightful
opportunity to take Elsie Flannigan's class at
Ruban Rouge, in Palm Harbor, on Saturday. In
fact, I think half of Sarasota was also there!
How delightful to see so many familiar faces!
Elsie is an adorable young lady with a very
Avant Garde style. She is an up and coming
artist, and her adorable face, was featured on
the cover of the April issue of Creating
Keepsakes Magazine. I certainly was out of my
comfort zone with the style of the class, but as
any good scrapbooker does, I found a way to make
it my own, and as a result, have a book that I
absolutely love! That's the best part of
scrapbooking... no matter what you do, there is
no right or wrong way to scrap, and you can
always learn something new if you allow yourself
to be open to new ideas! It was also a treat to
visit with Lisa in her amazing store. She is
always so generous and kind and makes everyone
who walks through her doors, feel welcomed.
Taking classes at other venues
always makes me realize the caliber of talent we
have in our own backyard. I look at the work
done by our teachers, our design team, and our
staff, and think WOW... these gals are awesome,
the only difference is, they have not pursued the
process of being published. For some, this is
not a priority, but for others, it is, so watch
out... some of our own talented family members
just may be the next rising stars.
This is not my
ordinary weekly update. I'll send that out later
this week. I just wanted to let you all know of
some upcoming events, so you could mark your
calendars now.

time, want to meet some great new friends, or
socialize with old ones... grab your tote and
come join the fun. 5:30 pm - 10:30 pm. Call the
store to reserve your spot.
Celebrity
Guest Teacher, Kris Gillespie, this Saturday, May
20th 10:30 - 1:00 pm
Kris is not only talented,
but published... a Memory Makers Maters; Runner
Up and EK Success; Design Team Member, Kris
brings both talent and charm to the table! Join
her Saturday as she leads a workshop using the
wonderful SEI collection of papers. She'll
transform an ordinary CD case into an
extraordinary mini album. Kris is truly one of
those talented team members I referred to
earlier! Don't miss this chance to learn from a
Master!
Ok, that's it for now... even
though I'd love to show you all the great
products that came in last week. We got a
Creative Imaginations order that took three days
to check in... I just don't have time right now
to pull all the photos. I promise I will in the
next few days though... In the meantime, here's
just a few photos of some of the CI products:

The Narratives Collection is
soooooooo beautiful! Wait till you see the
entire line...
papers, rub-ons, foams stamps and more. The 12 x
12 album is a must have! Not to mention all the
other products that came in last week. I know, I
know... I promise give me a few days! I'll get
it done. In the meantime, if you can't wait,
stop in the store and check it all out!

Amazing:
to
affect with great wonder, astonish. To cause
great wonder or astonishment!
What a perfect word to
describe our National
Scrapbook Day ~ Weekend Retreat! We
certainly had an amazing time! From goodie bags
to raffles, contests to classes, cropping to
eating, there was never a dull moment! The
accommodations were amazing, the food was
amazing, the classes were amazing and the
cropping that was done was amazing. The energy
level was at an all time high all weekend! I
can't believe the gals that were still cropping
at 2:00 AM, and were bright and chipper at
breakfast at 8:30 AM, ready to crop some
more!
We decorated everything from
name tags to trash bags! It's amazing what can
be done to a trash bag, in 30 minutes, isn't it
ladies! Our page contest was so difficult to
judge. There was only a 2 point difference
between our first and second place winner! We
gave away hundreds of dollars worth of prizes,
in more than 20 raffles all weekend, as well as
hundreds more, to contest winners.
Congratulations to all our lucky winners. We
even gave away the new Xyron Design Runner, a
$180.00 gift to our lucky Grand Prize Winner,
Pat Primrose! Be
sure to check out all the photo's on our
Events page!
Thank you to everyone for
making our National
Scrapbook Day such an
AMAZING event!
From the Goodie Bags to the Chocolate Fountain,
I don't think we left out any details. We even
had personalized Chocolate Bars, Water Bottles
and T-shirts for the occasion. This was
definitely a First Class Affair! A special thank
you to Jason Oettinger
for his creativity and computer savvy, in making
those adorable labels, for the candy bars. A
special thank you to
Laura Oettinger and
Tissiana Bowman
for their help in planning and executing this
great event, even though their schedules were
already in overdrive, and for their creative
touches on water bottles, T-shirts and logos!
Thank you to our teachers, Jeannie, Jenny, Kris,
Tissiana and Laura, your classes were
AMAZING!
If you missed the event, you
missed an AMAZING
time, but don't fret, we'll definitely do it
again! And for all you ladies who did attend, if
you enjoyed cropping with friends or meeting new
friends, be sure to attend our monthly crop held
in the store. We have a great time! Our monthly
crop is held the third Friday of every month,
and is open to all. Space is limited, so be sure
to call early and reserve your spot.
I apologize for not getting an
update out last week... but as you can tell we
were so busy preparing for our event, there were
no more hours in my day! Now I can focus on all
the fun things that lie ahead, like upcoming

Event, Quickutz Promotion, etc. etc. Stay tuned
each week as we fill you in on all the details!
