Weekly Update: September 28, 2005
With this last hurricane behind us now, perhaps we can breathe a sigh of relief and keep our fingers crossed that this will be the end of them. I know we still have two more months of hurricane season, but I'm choosing to think positively.
Fall is definitely here! Can you feel it? Can you see it? It's in the air, it's even reflected in the mood of many people! Those lazy, hazy days of summer are over... get the pumpkins out, put the cider on the stove and get ready for cooler days... well maybe not yet, but the thought is nice, isn't it? We're kicking off the first week of Fall with our Pumpkin Portraits on Saturday! Why stand in the hot sun at a local pumpkin patch when you can have a wonderful portrait taken here, in a nice air conditioned environment? We have a few openings available, so if you haven't reserved your spot give a us a call. Beth is an awesome photographer, you can check out her website at www.studiobphotography.net
This has been a busy week here in the store preparing for the Memory Trends Show in Las Vegas next week. We have been taking inventory, previewing new product lines and preparing for a busy holiday season! While trade shows can be fun, they are also exhausting! A great deal of preparation goes into the planning... budgets, inventory levels, needs and desires of customers, market forecasts and many other variables. It's miles of walking on those trade show floors, hours of writing orders with the reps, and then lots of second guessing, even after you have methodically and strategically planned each one of your purchases! We keep our fingers crossed and hope that when the orders start arriving, you will be as excited as we are with our choices.
In an industry as driven as ours by consumer demand, and new product presentations on a daily basis, this is a daunting task! We try to do our best to bring you the best, in every way possible. We continue to raise the bar, to become more knowledgeable ourselves, to offer training and classes that will not only teach you how to use products but inspire you as well. Watch in the upcoming months as we share new partnerships with manufactures, additional workshops and presentations, and extending training in technique and methods classes. Margaret and I will be attending EK Success SDU Training (Scrapbook Design University) in November and we are thrilled to introduce SDU to our Sarasota customers. Made For Memories is the only store from Tampa to Port Charlotte that qualifies for this prestigious position. As an EK Success Elite store, we have partnered to raise the bar another notch! Watch your E-mails for details to follow!

Weekly Update: September 21, 2005
Tomorrow marks the first day of Fall, and instead of temperatures cooling off and cider brewing on the stove, we find ourselves bracing yet one more time, as mother nature threatens the Gulf Coast. Our friends and families in Louisiana and Mississippi have suffered a great deal, and now the very ones that came to their aid in Texas, face the same fears. As I write this update, Rita's final destination is not yet determined. Having faced the horrendous year that our area faced last year, no one knows better than we do, the helpless feelings these disasters impose. While we all reach out in our own ways, let us remember that it really does take a village to make a difference. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all who have faced, or are facing the effects from Katrina and Rita. Remember, there are no small acts of kindness. Any act of kindness is immeasurable.
If you missed out on this weeks SEI classes, don't fret, their are two more next week. Check out the Events & Promotions section of the website to see the samples. these are great classes, and provide a completed album in just a couple of hours. Weekly
Update: August 26, 2005
Hello Everyone. I am going to make
an attempt at giving you a weekly
update! My road of recovery, from
surgery has been very slow and
rough, so I haven't been able to
focus on the store. A great big
"THANK YOU"
to Jenny,
Jane, Margaret and Jeannie
for pitch hitting, and working all
those extra hours in my absence!
What a great group! Thank you to so
many of you, for your phone calls,
E-mails, cards, flowers, books and
other gifts! I am so blessed to be
in an industry that I love, where
the greatest benefit that is
received, are the friendships that
are made, simply by touching lives!
Thank You! I still have some rough
road ahead and several more weeks of
limited activity, but I expect to be
back to full speed, as quickly as I
can!
One of the worst things about
convalescing at home is that you are
faced with all of your "un-done
household projects". While I am
unable to do anything about them, I
see one job after another that needs
to be tackled, and I grow more
frustrated at the inability to
tackle them. SOOOOO, I have begun to
compile a list of some of the things
I am able to do. Forgive me for
using this forum for my personal use
but I'm hoping under the
circumstances, you'll allow me to do
so. My Condo renovation began before
my surgery. I have new furniture
arriving in a few weeks and must
sell some things to make room. If
you are interested in any of these
items please give me a call at the
store.
Loveseat &
Ottoman $600.00
Patio Table
with 6 chairs, 2 are swivel $450.00
I will also have a great Scrapbook
desk and storage accessories in a
few weeks. These will not be
available for several weeks so I'll
post photo's later!
Ok, now on to the business of
SCRAPBOOKING!
Our bus trip is still on, despite
the inclement weather! A little rain
can't keep a "scrapbooker" from
shopping right?? The bus will leave
tomorrow promptly at 7:30 AM, filled
with anxious ladies, lots of prizes
and enough enthusiasm to fly us to
Orlando!
